Economic Olympics

The Cartoon of Economic Olympics by Heng in New York Times in 2012, is a symbolic representation of the Economical Competition among America and China. The Cartoonist Heng was born in 1963. Heng Studied Business at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Initially, Heng became editorial cartoonist. He won Singapore’s National Drawing Competition. Heng drew editorial cartoons for Lianhe Zaobao, which is the largest Chinese Language Newspaper in Singapore. The prominent works of Heng are published in The New York Times, The Straits Times, International Herald Tribune and Newsweek. In 2000, Heng became the first Asian Cartoonist who won the award at International Political Satire Festival in Italy.

The Cartoon of Economic Olympics as drawn by Heng has visualized the global economic competition between China and America. The cartoonist clearly depicted the tug of war for global trade in resources between China and America and which strategies are adopted in order to be the best. The Competition between China and America is in a serious phase where both Nations are competing to take global hold of trade and resources. China and America are in state of cold war with each other, both Nations are struggling their best in order to compete head on head globally. The lack of resources and the need and want to capture more and more power is the driving factor behind this cold war.

The business strategies in order to capture more market globally and to make a wider market on the globe for open trade is the topmost priority of both Nations. China on one hand is making its lobby stronger by making friendly treaties with the neighboring countries but America is self-confident to capture the hold of power by masculine means. The New York Times had shown the image where China is drawn on second position and America holds first position which clearly depicted a biased view of New York Times towards the American Government. American Government has adopted efficient strategies in order to compete China and is spreading the challenge through aggressive policies. The Cartoon showed that both Nations are competing and are trying to collect maximum resources in order to gain more power and hold on the World.

In the Cartoon figure where American player has raised his hands to celebrate victory but has nervous look on his face elaborates that although America is happy to be on the top but is still worried by his close competitor China. America is predicting a competition with China on Global Ground. The fight to be the best and the urge to pursue this desire is what making both the Nations to think cleverly and make efficient policies in order to maximize trade and gather resources to be the best. America, as clearly shown in the picture by Heng is on the top but it remains in continuous stress due to China. The Competition on Global Economic Grounds is depicted in this Cartoon. This Cartoon of Heng has raised many political and economic concerns.
